2007 Jeep Liberty Brake Controller and Transmission Cooler Recommendation for Towing 5k Trailer
Question:
On my 2007 Jeep liberty I have the 4.7LV6 engine with the 42RLE transmission. installed a class-3 hitch P/No.78226 with a 4-wire connector. The weight distribution rating sticker on the hitch reads 7500/750 lbs. I would like to tow a travel-trailer up to the 5000lb rating available with the factory tow package. Can you tell me what would need to be added to achieve that? Presumably an additional transmission oil cooler an electric brake controller and the 7-pin connector kit. Thanks

You are correct, you will need a transmission cooler, a 7-way and a brake controller to tow a 5k trailer with your 2007 Jeep Liberty assuming the vehicle and hitch capacities are rated for this.
To convert the 4-way to a 7-way and install the brake controller will require the part # ETBC7. This comes with everything. I attached an install video plus install instructions for you to check out as well.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
When picking out a transmission cooler you will want to go with the largest one available to fit the space in front of your radiator. The # D13503 is a very popular option that would work great I attached a install video that shows it being installed in a very similar 2008 Liberty as yours.
