Does the Computer of a 2014 Ram 1500 Have to Be Reprogrammed to Install Brake Controller

Question:

The dealership said that because of the canbus system on the 2014 Ram 1500 pickup that using a trailer brake controller it would have to have the computer programmed for it. They recommended using the Ram integrated controller because of the canbus system. Will this controller work on my 2014 Ram 1500 without having to buy an integrated controller and having to have the truck computer programmed for it? Thank you

To install and use the Tekonsha Primus IQ part # TK90160 will only require you to use the install harness part # 3023-P. This question comes up pretty frequently, but as long as you use the # 3023-P and an aftermarket controller you do not have to reprogram anything in the vehicle's computer.

I am sure this option costs less than the Mopar brake controller too.
