We offer both 4-pole flat and 7-way RV-style blade trailer connectors for your 2009 Kia Borrego. The correct harness will depend on the way the car was equipped from the factory.
If you do NOT have a factory 7-way socket then you'll use the Curt T-Connector 4-pole harness # C56184. This harness plugs in at your taillights and requires you to splice only one wire for 12V input power that you'll run up to the engine compartment. I linked an article to help you with the routing of that one wire. This will give you a 4-pole flat type connector that carries stop and turn signals on the same wire - green for stop and right turn, yellow for stop and left turn - and running lights on the brown wire.
To use this harness with your trailer that has separate stop and turn lights you'll also need a vehicle to vehicle converter # 118158 to split the combined stop/turn signals into individual circuits. This converter will wire in downstream of the Curt harness. The Curt harness' brown running light wire will bypass the converter. You will cut the 4-pole plug off the Curt harness to allow you to wire it to the left-hand input side of the converter, then on the converter output side (the green, red and yellow wires) you'll attach a connector to match your trailer's. We offer handy butt connectors # DW05744-10 for this purpose.
Please feel free to tell me how the Borrega's wiring is configured and to send a picture of the connector that is on the trailer and I will be glad to help you select one to match.
