Can 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness be Routed and Mounted to the Outside of a 2009 BMW X5

Question:

Has anyone been able to use this wiring kit on a 2009 BMW X5 to do a clean install with the wiring routed to outside from underneath rather than hanging out of the rear door?

All it would take to route the 4-Way end of wiring harness # 119250KIT to the outside of your 2009 BMW X5 would be a place for it to exit the vehicle and a mounting bracket # 18144 to hold the 4-Way connector.

Since you have to pull some of the flooring out of the cargo area to perform the installation, that is a good time to check for grommets or other wiring that exists the vehicle. If there isn't a place to route the harness through then a hole will have to be drilled (careful not to drill through anything on the other side).

Whether there is a grommet or something similar, or if you have to make a hole, after the wiring is routed through seal the hole with silicone such as # 0160297.
