Brake Controller Installation for a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
Im trying to figure out how to connect a break controller to my jeep, as said in the subject line it has a class 4 tow package.. The manual just tells you to connect your break controller to the light blue wire, which controls the electric breaks I have located that wire.. now what? What other parts do I need to complete the package? Does this model come with a plug and play option? Do I have to install at 20amp circuit breaker? I havent been able to find a specific adapter for Jeep. So its leading me to believe I have to hard wire the break controller. HELP

To install a brake controller in your 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 7-way will require you to connect the blue wire of the controller to the blue wire you found. That will connect the brake controller to the 7-way.
You will need the part # 5506 to power the controller. One wire will connect to the positive post of the battery through the included breaker and the other wire will run to the ground. The white wire of the controller is the ground and the black is the 12 volt power.
That leaves the red wire of the controller. This will get run to the circuit at your brake pedal switch that carries 12 volts only when the brakes are applied and none when released. You will need to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to find this circuit.
I attached a help article on wiring up a brake controller from scratch for you to check out as well.
