How to Identify Correct Replacement Grease Seal for Boat Trailer
Question:
Looking to replace bearings/seals on a boat trailer. Axle tapers from 1 3/8 to 1 1/16, which appears to be your BK2-100 kit L68149 inner bearing, L44649 outer bearing. However the seal I need measures 1 5/8 1.625 ID and 2 5/16 2.300 OD. Do you sell a seal with these measurements? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
None of the grease seals we offer match the ID and OD measurements you provided, in fact nothing we offer really came close.
Let's begin with the bearing sets you currently have. If you can't make out the reference number on them, I'd recommend using a digital caliper like part # PTW80157 to obtain the inside diameter of the inner and outer bearing you currently have. Confirming the bearings will go a long way toward helping us identify which seals you need.
To find the measurements for the seals, measure the inside hub bore (to gain the OD of the seal) and the surface of the spindle where the grease seal rides (to get to the seal ID).
