Parts Needed To Convert From Surge Disc Brakes to Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brakes
Question:
CAN THE T4813100 TITAN ELECTRIC OVER HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR BE USED TO CONVERT FROM SURGE BRAKE SYSTEM TO THEORICALLY A ELECTRIC BRAKE SYSTEM THAT ONLY APPLIES BRAKES FROM BRAKE CONTROLER

Expert Reply:
The Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes # T4813102 and a brake controller can be used to convert a surge brake system to an electric over hydraulic braking system. The BrakeRite will mount on the tongue of the trailer frame and will hardwire into the trailer's wiring system. When the brake controller sends a signal to the actuator, the pump and motor are triggered and activate the trailer brakes.
If you do not already have an electric brake controller installed on your tow vehicle that is compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes, I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. This brake controller features an LED display that is user friendly and easy to read. The P2 and 3 boost levels and performs continuous diagnostic checks to alert you to any potential problems. I have attached a review video of the brake controller for you.
If your truck and trailer do not already have 7-way trailer connectors installed, you will need them in order for the electric brake signal to reach the BrakeRite actuator. If you will let me know the year, make, and model of your tow vehicle, I will be happy to let you know the parts needed to make your tow vehicle compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes.
I have linked a help article on adding electric over hydraulic brakes to a trailer.
