Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with 2010 Chevy Silverado Short Bed with B&W Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

I have a 2010 short bed Chevy duramax with a bandw turnover hitch. I will be pulling a heartland 3010 cyclone fifth wheel. Will the Reese goose box work?

The Reese Goose Boxes fit on specific OEM pin boxes on 5th wheel trailers. If your trailer has one of the specified pin boxes then you can use it. There should be a sticker or plate on the pin box that indicates the manufacturer and model number of the pin box.

Goose Box # RP85FR fits:
Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD pin boxes (up to 16K)
Fabex PB-600 Series pin boxes

Goose Box # RP94716-61301 fits:
Lippert 0115, 1116 and 1716 pin boxes

You mentioned that your truck has a short bed. The Goose Box is not going to give you additional length in order to make tight turns without interference between the truck cab and the 5th wheel trailer. What I recommend is to use the Curt X5 adapter, # 16310, and then a slider 5th wheel hitch such as # C16541 which will provide 12 inches of travel to help make tighter turns.

Or another option is to skip the X5 adapter and slider hitch and use a Companion slider hitch # BWRVK3400-5W directly in the B&W gooseneck ball hole in the truck. This hitch also offers 12 inches of travel. I have linked several helpful videos for you as well.
