Recommended Trailer Hitch And Bike Carrier For 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK 430
Question:
I have a 2001 Mercedes CLK 430. I am looking for a bike rake. One of your web site options says to put on a trailer hitch. Unfortunately, the link to the install manual for the hitch does not work. Thanks

The Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C11815 is designed to fit Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class Coupe and Cabriolet Convertibles with a 208 chassis.
This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. Per Curt, all non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps like part # 18050. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt.
With a Class l hitch you are limited to carrying 2 bikes in the hitch. One of the nicest bike racks we offer is the Thule Helium Aero, part # TH9042PRO. This is a lightweight aluminum bike rack that features a lock to secure the bike rack to the vehicle and also a cable lock that secures the bikes to the carrier.
If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for this adapter bar.
