Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter Recommendation for Extended Pin Box

Question:

so the local rv store hasnt heard that the ranch hitch couldnt be on an extended pin box more then 24. Why do you say not to use it? Ive got a rv with a 36inch extended pin box , measured diagonally as is shown and Im trying to find a hitch thatll fit it for my recessed gooseneck ball in my flatbed trucks. Ive got a 1200 mile tow round trip in Montana during winter conditions.

The Ranch Hitch cannot be used on extended pin boxes that are longer than 24 inches measured diagonally. The issue is that too much leverage gets put on the pin box and adapter when it's longer than 24 inches.

The Convert-A-Ball Multi-Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter, # CAB-C5G does not have the same restriction. Convert a Ball does state that if the trailer has an extended pin box or requires additional support (yours would), reinforcement of the trailer frame will be required and should be performed by a qualified professional welder.
