Recommended Trailer Hitch for Towing a Car Hauler with a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500
Question:
I have a 2011 Dodge ram 1500 4door with a 5.7 hemi. I would like to be your able to tow a rental car carrier with a 1969 Corvette on it, 1 trip about 800 miles. This vehicle has the stock chrome rear bumper and does not have a trailer hitch. What would you recommend?

Between the trailer and the vehicle, you'll likely be towing a load just shy of 6000 lbs. The Draw-Tite Class III hitch you referenced, part # 75662 has a capacity of 6000 lbs towing/ 600 lbs tongue weight, so the load you're carrying might be too much for that particular hitch. I'd recommend confirming the combined weight of the Corvette and the car transporter. If it's under 6000 lbs, the # 75662 would be a good choice. If it's over that amount, I'd recommend a higher capacity hitch like the Curt Class IV, part # 14374 which has a 10,000 lb towing/ 1000 lb tongue weight capacity.
If you don't already have a trailer connector, you can install one using part # HM40975. The trailer wiring harness will be located behind the rear bumper of the truck, and would plug directly into the # HM40975.
