How to Tow Trailer Level with 6-Inch Lifted 2014 Toyota Tundra

Question:

I have a Toyota Tundra with 6inch lift and need to tow my 20foot travel trailer gross weight 4250lbs. I am looking for a hitch lowering adapter that allows me to tow my trailer. I have a bar and ball that is set up for my weight distribution and sway system I just need something that will lower the female end so that I can use it. RM-048-6 looks perfect but is says it is for a tow bar only. Can you guys help me find an adapter that will lower the female end square hole so that I can tow this camper?

Lifted trucks can be a challenge when towing a trailer due to the height difference between the hitch and trailer tongue. As you noted, the Roadmaster High-Low Hitch Adapter # RM-048-6 that you referenced cannot be used with a trailer, only with a tow bar. Also no weight distribution (WD)system should be used with any type of hitch adapter.

The right way to get your truck and trailer together is to select a shank with the right amount of drop. You can use the linked page to see all weight distribution shanks. Click on the type you have, round or trunnion bar, and then choose the 6-inch drop (or more if needed). For example, if you have a round bar WD system you could use # RP63971 from Pro Series which gives 6-1/2-inches of drop with such bars or the Curt # C17122 that gives 7-inches of drop with trunnion bars.
