Replacing Tow Bar Wiring 4-Way Connector with a 6-Way on a 2011 Lincoln MKX
Question:
Hi. Have have purchased your RM-98146-7 Roadmaster 7 to 6 pin cable w/connectors. I have also purchased your hopkins towed wiring kit for my lincoln mkx w/4 pin flat connector that is already installed. Question is how can I convert the 4 pin to 6 pin towed connector and socket for the towed car? I will be also installing a wire to the 6 pin socket for using a rvi towed battery charger in the towed end socket. Many thanks for your help.

On the Hopkins tow bar wiring harness # HM56002 on your 2011 Lincoln MKX you will have to cut off the 4-Way flat end and hardwire each of the wires to the back of the 6-Way contained in kit # RM-98146-7. I have included a link to a help article that shows how various connectors are wired including a 6-Way and 7-Way to help. Remember that the 6-Way end at the front of the Lincoln is a vehicle side and not a trailer side.
