Does Brake Controller Need to Be Removed When Towing Trailer with Surge Brakes
Question:
Ive installed the Primus IQ in order to tow our travel trailer. Often, however, I will instead tow our 20foot boat on its trailer - which, of course, has surge brakes. So if I leave the Primus cabled up to the truck wiring harness, does it do any harm to the surge brake system on my boat trailer? Was wondering since voltage is sent down the wires in braking situations and did not want to do anything to my boat trailers wiring. Thanks!

You would not need to unplug or remove your Primus IQ Brake Controller part # TK90160 when towing a trailer with surge brakes. The circuit on the 7-way of your trailer wouldn't have a wire that runs anywhere so the controller shouldn't even detect a trailer.
