Recommendations For 2005 Dodge Ram Truck With Short Bed To Make Turns With Wide Travel Trailer

Question:

First off thank you...now I have a 04 wanderer wagon fifth wheel trailer with a width of 103 inches across the front....I have a 05 dodge ram 2500 small four door with a bed length of 6ft 6 inch the dealer where I bought the trailer installed a goose neck adapter and cant make a 90 degree turn the trailer corners will hit my cab..yes they put a hidaball in my bed ....question....what slider recievers .model numbers ... can I get to clear my cab thank you in advance

I wish I had better news but there are no adapters that will allow you to make 90 degree turns as long as you are using the gooseneck in your truck and on your trailer. The only adapter I could recommend is the Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch System, part # AM3200, but it would only give you an additional 5-1/2 inches of clearance and that would not work with a trailer that is 103 inches wide as you said your trailer is.

The best recommendation I can make is to replace the gooseneck in your truck with a stationary fifth wheel hitch, and then replace the pin box on your trailer with a Sidewinder.

The fifth wheel installation kit I recommend is part # RP50140-58. You would then need a stationary fifth wheel hitch like part # RP300928.

To replace your pin box with a Sidewinder you will need to know the manufacturer and model of the pin box you currently have. I have attached a helpful article that explains Sidewinders and also has a chart that lists the Sidewinder replacement for pin boxes.
