Trailer Hitch, Trailer Wiring and Cargo Carrier Recommendation for 2011 Mazda 6
Question:
Im looking for a trailer hookup for my 2011 Mazda 6. I want a small trailer to haul an atv or a cargo rack for deer. Is there a type of trailer hitch frame that could help me accomdate that? Thank you.

For your 2011 Mazda 6, I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class I hitch, part # 24832. The hitch has a 2000 lb towing, 200 lb tongue weight capacity.
The capacity is for the hitch itself, if the capacity of your Mazda 6 is lower, you'd need to abide by the lowest capacity. See your owners manual for the towing capacity of your vehicle.
The hitch I recommended includes the pin and clip used to secure it in the hitch. To complete your towing system, you'd need the following items:
A ball mount that fits 1-1/4 inch hitches.
Trailer wiring harness with 4-pole trailer connector, part # HM11140245
1-7/8 inch trailer ball, part # 19256 or 2 inch trailer ball, part # 19258
If you need a cargo carrier, I'd recommend the 20 x 48 Curt # C18110. Since the hitch has a 200 lb tongue weight capacity, you'd need to make sure that the 30 lb weight of the carrier plus the weight of what you carry on it doesn't exceed 200 lbs.
