Installing Hopkins # HM40157 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Truck Bed Trailer Connector in 2000 Ford F350
Question:
Your instructions say that the tee installs by disconnecting the plug at the rear of the factory 7 way. The square factory plug on my truck is NOT at the rear of the factory 7 way, but is mounted above the spare tire. My square plug looks exactly like the one shown. Am I correct in assuming that the tee on this kit can be ed at this square connector above the spare tire? 2000 ford F350

To install the # HM40157 in your truck bed, you'd drill the hole at the desired location in the truck bed. Run the wiring carefully through the hole, and plug the round connector into the back of the 7-way that's installing in the truck bed. Next, locate the rectangular connector above the spare tire where the bumper mounted 7-way plugs in and unplug it. The wiring harness from the bed mounted 7-way would plug INLINE with the two rectangular connectors you've just unplugged.
