Recommendation for a Camper Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack for a Coleman Yuma and a Ford Escape
Question:
We have a Coleman/Fleetwood Yuma trailer and want to put a bike rack on the back of it for camping trips. I would also like be able to use the rack on our Ford Escape for other rides. The trailer has no receiver and channel type bumper. The Escape has a class 1 receiver. What product combination would work?

The only option for carrying bikes on your trailer and your vehicle that we have is a frame mounted hitch. Because of the C channel bumper on your trailer, the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22 inches to 72 inches Wide, item # 13703, would be the best option to allow the use of a bike rack that will work with the camper and your Ford Escape.
You will need to be sure to purchase a bike rack that is rated for use behind a trailer. We have the Swagman Trailhead Bike Rack, item # S63381, which is a good choice for two bikes on your trailer but will not fit in the Ford Escape Class I receiver. All of the bike racks for trailers will only currently fit 2" receivers (May 2022). You would have to get a different rack for you 1-1/4" receiver on your Ford escape.
For your Escape, I recommend the Thule Camber # TH9058.
You will need to contact the camper manufacturer to determine if the frame of the trailer is strong enough to allow mounting the hitch and carrying bikes behind the camper.
