Brake Lights on 2009 Jeep Liberty Stay on While Driving w/ Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness Installed
Question:
Good afternoon, I installed a Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - C56183 in my 2009 Jeep Liberty. Ive been having issues with my brake lights turning on and staying on while driving. Could this be because the grounding wire is not solid enough? Im a little lost. Thank you

I reached out to my contact at Curt, and they agree that it sounds like the converter box on the T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, # C56334 might be bad. You can troubleshoot the converter by using a circuit tester like # PTW2993, on the input side of the converter (wires leading from the connection to the vehicle taillight harness to the converter box). Test each wire as its function is activated- red wire = brake lamps, brown wire = running lamps, yellow wire = left turn and green wire = right turn. Then test the wires running from the converter box to the trailer connector or output. The green wire should power up with the right turn signal and the brake pedal. The yellow wire should power up with the left turn and brake pedal and the brown wire should go hot when the running lights are activated. If you have the correct signals going into the box but incorrect signals exiting the converter box, there is something wrong with the converter and it will need to be replaced.
I've linked to some FAQ articles with troubleshooting strategies you might find helpful.
