Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited AWD
Question:
I have a 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited AWD. Im going to order the Curt Trailer Hitch for the 2006 Toyota Highlander. I asked the dealer and they told me that my car was NOT pre-wired for a tow, so I cannot use the easy snap in wiring kits. I just wanted to make sure I order the correct wiring kit with my hitch. I think the correct one is the Upgraded Circuit Protected Modulite with 4 Pole.. etc part number : C59496?? If so, the webpage said Separate wiring system - brake and turn signals are sent along separate wires. A converter is required. Im sorry, this might sound really stupid but I dont know much about this stuff so I have to ask... What is a converter? Is it included in the wiring kit C59496? and If not, where could I get one? Please let me know! Im excited about this hitch! My boyfriend and I will have so much fun taking the motorcycles down to the track!

I will be happy to help. Wiring harness # C59496 will fit your 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid.
Since most trailers in the US have the brake lights and turn signals combined on the same circuits, vehicles that have separate wires for those functions require a wiring harness that has a converter to combined the separate signals from the vehicle into the combined system used on the trailer.
Wiring harness # C59496 does indeed come with the converter so you would not have to buy a separate converter. I have linked a video showing an example installation that you can use as a guide.
Have fun on the bikes!
