No Power on Yellow and Brown Wires on Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2009 Jeep Patriot Sport
Question:
I have a part # 118552 already installed..I believe the module that hooks to the driver side taillight is dead..no power coming out. Can I buy just the module?

You can test the trailer wiring harness # 118552 on your 2009 Jeep Patriot to determine if it needs to be replaced. First, you will test the wires going into the converter box from the vehicle using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993.
If there is no power on the yellow and brown input wires, then the issue is on the vehicle but if there is power on those wires then the issue could be the converter box. Make sure that the converter box white ground wire is attached to a clean and corrosion free bare metal surface. No paint or coating at all on the surface.
Test the yellow and brown wires on the output side of the converter that go out to the 4-Way. If there is power coming INTO the converter from the vehicle but not on the output side, then that indicates a problem with the converter and the harness will have to be replaced. The converter by itself is not available as a separate part.
