Can a etrailer Cargo Carrier Hold a Generator at the Front of a 2007 Ford F-150

Question:

I am looking for this to fit the front hitch of my truck to carry a Honda eu3000 generator. The front of the truck was lifted 2inch from its original height, so there should be no problem with it touching the ground. The receiver does stick out 1inch from the front bumper so I think it should fold with no problem. Any thoughts

Expert Reply:

When the etrailer cargo carrier # e98874 is folded up it measures 9-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the carrier so clearance would not be an issue on your 2007 Ford F-150.

There are a couple of things you should know. First, having cargo at the front of a vehicle can affect driver visibility, air flow to the motor, and could block the lights. Also, the front axle capacity (listed on that sticker in the driver's side door jamb) needs to be rated high enough for the extra weight (as does the front mount hitch).
