Can the Factory Brake Controller be Bypassed on a 2007 GMC Sierra New Body Style
Question:
I have a 2007 gmc 2500 with factory brake control installed. It has definitely hayed out on me. Nothing wrong with camper. I am looking for an aftermarket brake controller to by pass the factory installed controller. From what I understand if I get this controller, I will need to hook the blue wire up from controller back to the trailer connector at end of truck. I would not hook up the blue wire from controller to the blue wire in truck harness. Is that correct. I have the new body style 2007 gmc 2500 and from what I have read, it is not an option to use the plug and play adapter

Yes, you can bypass the factory brake controller on your 2007 GMC Sierra new body style. You will need to add enough 10 gauge blue wire, # 10-1-1, to reach from the cab of the truck to the 7-Way at the rear of the truck. It is sold in 1 foot increments so a quantity of 1 would be 1 foot. I would recommend at least 20 feet.
I have included a link to a help article that explains the process of bypassing the factory controller for you. For a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and is compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes.
