Recommended Brake Controller for 1990 Dodge Ram Pickup
Question:
I need to add a brake controller to a 1990 Dodge Ram D250 Cummins Diesel truck. There is no existing 4 pin trailer wiring on the truck. In truth, the previous owners of this vehicle have not been very kind and wiring harness has been significantly mauled. I saw your video installing a controller and ETBC7 Installation Kit on a 1990 Ram very helpful. Question : is there another kit to help with the fact I dont have a 4pin to connect into or do I simply splice into the taillight wiring? like I said - already a mess, so I cant hurt much.

The brake controller I recommend for your 1990 Dodge Ram Pickup is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller, # 90885. To add a new 4 way to your Dodge Ram you will want the Curt wiring harness # C55317. The connector plugs directly into the existing wiring - no cutting, splicing or tapping required. Then you need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This kit includes everything you need to install an electric trailer brake controller and 7-way connector.

I am including links to the installation instructions for the P2, as well as some information on brake controllers in general for reference.
