Reese M5 Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2010 Chevy Silverado

I have a 2006 chev 2500 dura max 4x4 short box with the Reese 30061 rail kit in it. I bought a 2010 chev dura max 4x4 short box and want to know if my 18k Reese signature series hitch will work in it if I install the 30061 Reese signature series rail kits you can buy on line

The # RP30061 rail kit is for the Elite Reese hitches. This part number will also fit your 2010 Chevy Silverado. If you wanted you could move the rail kit from your old truck to your new one, or you could buy a new rail kit and then use your Elite 18k Hitch part # RP30144 with your new truck.

You would need a slider hitch unlike the part # RP30921 that you referenced. If you have the # RP30921 you would need to upgrade to a slider like the # RP30144 or go with a Sidewinder pin box.

You will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
