How to Determine What 5th Wheel Hitch Height is Needed for 2015 F350 Dually

Question:

Im needing a hitch for my new truck and trailer. I have a 2015 F350 dually 4X2 with the 5th wheel hitch prep that affords the bed pucks underbed rail and my trailer is a Forest River Wildcat 312QBX. Im leaning towards the BandW RVK3300 hitch, but it appears to have a more limited height adjustment range of 16.75-18.75 vs. the Reese which is 14-18 inches, vs. the Curt which is 13-17 inches. How do I determine if the BandWs limited height adjustment range is going to be an issue?

To figure out at which height you need the hitch, jack the trailer so it's level. Measure from the underside of the pin box (not the king pin) to the ground, which will be measurement number 1. Then, also on level ground measure how high above the ground the floor of your truck bed is, which is measurement number 2. Subtract measurement 2 from measurement 1, and you'll get the needed height above the truck bed floor.

All three companies make an excellent product, any one of the three would work very well, assuming that the hitch would be at the correct height. The Curt # C16530-16017 offers a 10 year warranty versus the 5 year for the B&W # BWRVK3300 and the 7 year for the Reese # RP30921. The Reese offers the one-piece wrap around jaw that holds the king pin very tightly, eliminating all king pin rattle. B&W hitches are manufactured in the USA. All three have their strong points.
