Which Over-Under Conversion Kit Will Fit a 2004 Forest River Sierra
Question:
Looking into getting the kit to flip the axles on my 2004 30foot Forest River Sierra great rig by the way and everything works like a charm. Two slides and AC will chill you down. Anyway, got a new truck Ford F250 4x4 and it is making the front of trailer ride high - which puts extra weight on rear set of trailer tires. I have lowered my hitch in truck bed as much as possible but it isnt enough. I have found a local trailer company that will do the actual work - they have never performed the work on an RV none of local RV dealers would perform the work by the way but knew exactly what I was talking about when questioned. Anyway, I am buying the kit and they are doing the install work - so can you tell me which kit I need by use of my trailer info above? If not, how do I measure my axle to determine which kit I need??Is it as straight forward as just crawling under rig and measuring the axle??

I would have to know the axle capacity to be certain of which kit is needed but it is actually as simple as you have said. You would just need to measure the diameter (width) of the trailer axle(s). If they are 3 inches in diameter then you would use kit # K71-385-00. If they are 2-3/8 inches then you would use kit # K71-384-00. You will need one kit per axle.
If you have a different axle size then the only other option is to have the shop cut off the existing suspension hangers and have taller ones welded on. I have included a link to our hanger main page for you.
