etrailer Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier Dimensions For Spare Tire And Ground Clearance
Question:
? regarding C18153 How much does it weigh? What is the distance between the bumper and rack when folded up? I have a rear mounted tire Can the standard bike components be purchased and bolted on this for a bike rack? What is the measurement from the bottom of the rack to the pavement when installed and folded down? How many feet does this rack add to the length of the vehicle when the rack is in place down with cargo? Folded up w/o cargo?

The Curt Cargo Carrier, part # e98874 weighs 61 lbs and the outside dimensions are 61-1/2" wide x 25-3/4" deep x 6-1/2" tall. This is designed to fit 2 inch hitch receiver openings.
The carrier has a shank rise of 2 inches so the bottom of the carrier would be two inches higher than the bottom of the hitch opening you have on your vehicle. As far as clearing the spare tire you have you can take a quick measurement to see if it will clear your tire or not. You will need a tape measure and a straight edge like a yardstick or a dowel. Place the straight edge vertically against the back of the spare tire, letting it extend below the trailer hitch receiver opening. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin to the straight edge. This will give you the distance you need to clear the spare tire.
The # e98874 measures 19-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier when folded down and it measures 9-1/2" when folded up. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the carrier when folded down is 45" and 19" when folded up.
The bike rack adapter I recommend for the Curt cargo carrier is part # CC-125. This system bolts through the mesh screen in the bottom of the carrier and holds the bikes in place.
Another option you can check out is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Platform With Cargo Carrier, part # HR1400Z-85. This allows you to carry the bikes in the bike rack along with a cargo carrier attached.
