Where to Route Backup camera Wire Through Firewall on a 2011 Toyota Tundra

Question:

I have a 2011 Toyota Tundra Crewmax 4 wheel drive. I just purchased the Hopkins smart hitch camera system. Can you give me an idea of where I can bring the wire into the cab. I do not seem to find any thing on the firewall I could go through. Thanks

You can look for another wiring harness that goes from the interior of the vehicle, through the firewall, and into the engine compartment. That would be the most likely place. It can be tough to get anything to go through those pre-existing locations. If you were to straighten out a wire hanger and work it through you could then tie the wire to the hanger and pull it through.

Otherwise you will have to drill a small hole through the firewall. Just be careful not to drill through anything on the other side! If you drill a hole you could use snap-in bushing # SWC8055 (requires a 9/16 inch drilled hole) to protect the wire. After you have route the wire through it you would then seal it up with some silicone # 0160297 so no fumes or moisture can get through.
