What are the Trailer Wiring Color Codes for Standard 4-way Wiring
Question:
Our trailer hitch has eight cables on the boat side of the socket. 1 green, 1 yellow, 3 brown, 3 white. We can only find 4 cable sockets.

Sounds like your trailer is using a wishbone style of 4-way connection that is running all of their ground (white wires), and running lights (brown wires), back to the 4-way connector.
You could use a standard 4-way still but you would need to splice all of the ground and running lights together to wire them to something like the part # HM48110.
