As long as you have an existing 4-Way trailer connector at the rear of your 1998 Chevrolet C/K pickup you will only need the # ETBC7 kit to install a brake controller. The ETBC7 includes all of the wiring circuit breakers and connectors needed. If you do not have an existing 4-Way connector you can use the 4-Pole Hardwire Kit Including Circuit Tester, item # 18252, to hard wire the 4-Way to the wiring going to the truck tail lights (see instructions link).
You will need a circuit tester, like the one provided in the # 18252 kit or the # PTW2993, to find the stoplight switch wire at the brake pedal switch. This will be the wire that has 12 volts only when the brake pedal is pressed.
I have included a link to complete brake controller installation from scratch instructions for you to review and use.
