Parts Needed for Installing Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 in 2016 Explorer
Question:
I am looking at buying a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 90195 brake controller for a 2016 Ford Explorer. The Explorer came with the factory towing package but I havent been able to determine if it is already wired for a brake controller or not, and if so where is the wiring harness located? If I purchase the Tekonsha brake controller will it require a brake controller wiring harness adapter? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The 2011 through 2016 model years of the Ford Explorer are part of the same 5th generation of this popular vehicle.
I spoke to my technical contact at Tekonsha and he confirmed the fit of brake controller wiring adapter # 3035-P for your 2016 Explorer.
If your Explorer has a factory-installed 7-way trailer connector then all you'll need is the P3 # 90195 itself and the wiring adapter # 3035-P. The vehicle connection port for the white plug on the wiring adapter will be located under the dash above the brake pedal.
