Compatibility of Different Brands of 5th Wheel Base Rails and Installation Kits

Question:

I have an older hijacker sliding hitch and the rails I took out of my 2006 dodge have non standard spacing of 29 3/4inch from what I can tell spacing side to side. Still the standard front to back I believe. Can I use those rails with a DM8552025 to mount those rails still. My new truck is a 2015 ram 2500 mega cab.

Standard 5th wheel base rails have multiple hitch mounting holes spaced at different dimensions. Measured hole center to hole center these spreads are 10-inches, 20-1/2-inches or 29-inches. It certainly looks like your base rails are industry-standard since your measurement taken at the outside edges of the holes is 29-3/4-inches. Please refer to the linked photo I have prepared for you.

It is possible that these rails could work with the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Custom Mounting Brackets # DM8552025 you referenced but we do not recommend mixing brands of 5th wheel parts. We always recommend sticking with one brand for both base rails and the mating under-bed mounting kits since other combinations have not been tested.

For your application you can use Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rail Kit # DM8552025-71 which includes the brackets for the frame as well as the above-bed base rails.
