7-Way and 4-Way Adapter for 4-Way Flat Connector on 2013 Ford F-150

Question:

What do I need to put a 7 way connector on my non-towing package 2013 ford f150 ecoboost. It has the 4 flat connector in the rear. I read your question and answer regarding a 2010, and was wondering if it is the same as my 2013. I already have the prodigy controller and adapter. Thanks for your help, and Ill purchase what you recommend from you.. Thanks again

To convert your 4-way flat connector to a 7-way connector, I recommend the Hopkins Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185. This adapter will allow you to use both 7-way and 4-way flat connectors.

Installation on your 2013 Ford F-150 will be similar to the 2010 that you referenced. The 4-way flat from the adapter plugs into the existing 4-way flat on your vehicle. The white wire from the adapter needs to be grounded to the vehicle's frame. The blue wire on the adapter will need to be extended and spliced into the blue output wire on your break controller. The black wire on the adapter will need to be extended and spliced into the red 12V hot lead wire. To extend the wires, you can use part # 10-2-1. The vehicle side wires can be found at the rear of the vehicle along the drivers side frame in the existing tow package wiring.

If your trailer has reverse lights, the purple wire on the adapter will need to be spliced into a reverse light wire behind on of your taillights. If you will not be using reverse lights, the purple wire can be taped up and stowed for future use.

I have included an installation video of this adapter on a 2013 Ford F-150 for you.

A few other parts I recommend are dielectric grease # 11755, butt connectors # 05732-2, and wire loom # 459075-1.
