Can Hubs from Old Axle Be Used With Dexter # T20BTR-EZ-7258 Replacement Trailer Axle

Question:

Im interested in purchasing an axle - part# T20BTR-EZ-7258 for my utility trailer. Two questions: can I use my existing hub assemblies as they are good? Second: it appears at one time my trailer may have been overloaded as I no longer have a discernible bow in the center and the camber is off tires wearing on inside edge. Is it worth trying to bend my current axle in effort to create the necessary bow in the middle? The trailer is a 1994 Triple Crown 6x12 so its been around a while. Thanks, Dave

If your existing hub assemblies use the # L44649 inner and outer wheel bearing, hubs and races are still in good condition, you can reuse them. I'd recommend replacing the bearings and # L44610 races.

I wouldn't recommend trying to bend the axle back into place. When the axle was bent, the structural integrity of the metal might have been compromised to an unknown degree. Be safe, replace the axle.

The axle has a hub face to hub face dimension of 72 inches and a spring center to spring center distance of 58 inches. You'll want to make sure these dimension match your current axle.
