there are actually 5 key parts needed to flat tow any vehicle: base plates, tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking.

The base plates provide a safe and secure attachment point for the tow bar on the vehicle. For your 2006 Chevy Colorado you can use Roadmaster base plates # 3122-1. They are compatible with the Falcon 2 tow bar # RM-520 which is what actually holds the vehicle to the motor home.

For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground. Safety cables are a failsafe should the vehicle somehow become disconnected from the motor home.

Next you will need a lighting solution. I recommend the bulb and socket kit # RM-155. It is preferred by our installers because it bypasses the vehicle wiring and is relatively easy to install compared to several other options.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system # RM-9400. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the RV is braking. This is the easiest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

Be sure to consult your vehicle owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.
