Brake Controller and Install Recommendation for a 2008 Jeep Commander
Question:
Hi, Looking for a custom controller adapter for a 2008 Jeep Commander: One end of the custom adapter plugs into your Jeep Commander, and the other end plugs into the controller - no hardwiring required. Need to add a controller to a 2008 Commander. Thanks!

For a 2008 Jeep Commander that did not come with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector, you will need a few items to install a trailer brake controller, but there isn't a plug in adapter available for your vehicle. First, if your Commander does not already have a 4-Way, you will start by installing one using # 118408. I have included a video showing a typical installation for you.
Then you would need a 4 and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7. This will provide the 7-Way and the wiring and accessories needed to install a brake controller. I have included some links that explain the ETBC7 installation for you.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
