Low Cost Brake Controller Recommendation for 2001 Ford F150

Question:

Looking for a low cost proportional brake controller and adapter. Tow vehicle is a 2001 F-150 SCREW. Pulling a 3500# travel trailer a few times a year on flat roads. What product do you recommend? Thanks.

Although there are lower-cost proportional controllers available, I wouldn't recommend anything less than the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. The reliability of a Tekonsha product is worth the small price differential in my opinion.

The controller provides a full digital display and is self leveling. To install the controller, you'll need the # 3035-P brake controller wiring adapter that will plug in under the dash. The gray plug you're looking for is to the left of the OBDII port.

If your truck doesn't have the 7-way connector, you can install one using part # 118242. You can see a brake controller being installed on a 2001 F150 by clicking the provided link.
