7-Way Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

My Jeep has the port to connect part #118369, but it is only a 4 wire. I need the 7 wire. Is there a 7 wire plug that connects the same way or do I have to wire everything? I was told that it had a tow kit when I bought it and never checked for wiring because I just assumed it was there. It has the hitch, but I cant find any wiring.

To install a 7-way on your 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee you are going to need to first start with the 4-way part # 118369 that you referenced.

Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way.

If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and a brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to wire up the 7-way and install a brake controller.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
