Will the prodigy p3 work on motorcycle trailer? I was needing a brake controller to pull a timeout camp trailer behind my 2015 ultra classic low. Flhtkl. Electric 7inch brakes. Thanks

The Prodigy P3 brake controller, part # 90195 is a great brake controller and one of our best sellers, but for a motorcycle you might be better off using a time delayed brake controller.

The brake controller I recommend is the Draw-Tite Activator IV Trailer Brake Controller, part # 5504 because it is smaller than most other controllers at 4-3/16 inches long x 2-3/4 inches wide x 1 inch tall. The advantage of a time-delayed controller is that you can mount these at any angle versus the proportional controllers that require the brake controller to be mounted a certain way. When motorcycles navigate curves, many times they are tilted. You can mount the # 5504 so that the manual over ride is within easy reach for even more control.

To wire the brake controller you will need a 20 amp circuit breaker like part # PK54220, installed inline on the black power wire that goes to the motorcycle battery. The white wire should be attached to a good bare metal surface, and the red wire will need to be attached to a brake light signal that shows current only when the motorcycle brakes are activated. Last, you will need some blue 10 gauge wire, part # 10-1-1. This will be used to extend the blue wire from the brake controller to the trailer connector on the motorcycle.

You may want to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to check the trailer connector on the trailer and motorcycle to make sure they are aligned properly.
