Trailer Wiring 7-Way Recommendation for a 2004 Chevy Colorado with 4-Way

Question:

I have a 2004 Chevy Colorado and am looking at your trailer wiring harness. It asks about with or without a factory 7 way connector. How would I know? When I look at my wiring, its a small oval 4 slot, nothing that I see on your list would hook into it, any ideas?

Sounds like you have a 4-way installed on your 2004 Chevy Colorado by the description you gave. A 4-way looks like part # 18004. If the trailer you plan to tow does not have trailer brakes then this 4-way would work well for you.

If the trailer does have brakes you would also need the part # ETBC7 as it comes with everything needed to convert the 4-way to a 7-way and install a brake controller.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
