Recommened Base Plates and Flat Towing Accessories for 2015 Chevy Colorado
Question:
I have a Stow master 5000 hitch on my 2014 Jeep Patriot. I would like to use the same hitch on a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. I know I will be required to purchase the bracket that attaches to the frame. Question, Is there bracket made that I can use?

As long as your Colorado doesn't have the radar-based adaptive cruise control option, Roadmaster does offer base plates for your truck.
The Roadmaster EZ4 base plates, part # RM-523182-4 is compatible with your Stowmaster tow bar. The base plate is a fit for 2 or 4WD vehicles. You'll also need safety cables like # RM-643 if you don't have them already.
For wiring up the taillights, I'd recommend the Roadmaster bulb and socket kit, part # RM-155. This will provide a permanent lighting solution that doesn't involve splicing into the vehicle's wiring.
For a supplemental braking system a portable system would be the best option since you might be towing either vehicle. The Even Brake # RM-9400 will work for either of them. You need a stop light switch kit # RM-751472 and 12-volt outlet # RM-9332 for the Colorado.
When towing your vehicle, the ignition needs to be switched to the second position to unlock the steering column. This can energize some components that would drain the battery while you're towing, so using a battery disconnect like part # RM-766 is highly recommended.
Please check with your owner's manual for the proper procedure for flat towing the vehicle. Failure to follow this procedure can damage the vehicle.
