Recommended Sway Control For Trailer Without Weight Distribution System Installed

Question:

I do not have a weight distribution system. I am looking at Curt friction sway bar. I am only wanting the anti-sway bar. The question I have is: What does it mean when it states shank not included?

Typically, when a statement like shank not included is mentioned it is pertaining to a weight distribution system. Since you said you do not have a WD system and only want to install sway control it would not be needed.

If you choose to install a sway control unit like the Curt Friction Sway Control, part # 17200 without a weight distribution system installed you will need a bracket that attaches to your ball mount. If you have a 2 inch drawbar I recommend part # RP26003, and for a 1-1/4 inch drawbar you would need part # RP26005. The other end of the sway control uses the included bracket and is mounted to the trailer.

Please keep in mind this sway control is not for use on trailers with surge brakes, and it is recommended you remove the sway control when towing in slippery conditions.
