How Does the Steering Wheel of a Push Button Start Vehicle Get Unlocked for Flat Towing

Hi guys and Gals We have a 2012 Fleetwood Bounder RV...All FORD STUFF. Also a 2011 FORD EDGE Limited... Blue Ox BX2628 Baseplate BLUE OX TOW BAR Aventa...BX7445 Blue OX BRK2012 Patriot Brake System... We have on the receiver a Pollack Seven Pin Format Plug /Witch is a 7 IN TO A 6 Pin For the TOW CAR ! Saying ALL THAT... We also read different stuff on IGNITION Fuse Bypass Switches ?? OUR EDGE HAS ST ARE BUTTON,NOT A KEY ST ARE ! We Want to do the right thing ...THE FIRST TIME AROUND !... Ya were new to This !! DO ES THE FUSE BYPASS SWITCH HELP from running down ? Also does it put your ODOMETER on hold ? ... Our PATRIOT Brake sym. Has its own Battery ! Please get back to us asap... We would sure be Great full if one

For your 2011 Ford Edge you want to first consult the owners manual to determine what the flat towing procedure should be and if there are any restrictions. Typically on vehicles with push button starts to get the vehicle to unlock the steering wheel you would need to have the key in the car, and without pressing the brake of the vehicle press the start button. That will put it in ACC mode which should unlock the steering wheel.

The procedure you will need to follow will be outlined in the owners manual. From our research it looks like your vehicle will need to be put in ACC mode. To do that you will need to press the start button once without brake being applied. You will also need to put the transmission in neutral.

I checked with Blue Ox and Roadmaster and they don't recommend any of the fuse bypasses for your vehicle so that wouldn't be the route to go for you.

When you flat tow a vehicle you will still put miles on it unfortunately.
