Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2006 Ford Mustang GT
Question:
What is the beefiest trailer hitch I can put on a 2006 ford mustang gt? Is tongue wt the wt of what I would put on a carrier? I am not sure how much I am going to tow. If I put a carrier on it, it would be four tires. If I tow a trailer it would have a kart on it. Thanks

All of the trailer hitches available for your 2006 Ford Mustang GT are Class I hitches with a 200lb tongue weight capacity and a 2,000lb towing capacity. The Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch, # 24747, will fit the GT model, but it will not fit the specialty GT models like the California Special, Shelby GT and GT500. I have attached an installation video for you to check out. This hitch comes with a ball mount and a pin and clip. To tow a trailer, you will just need a hitch ball, # 19258 for a 2 inch ball or # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball. The trailer you are towing will dictate the size ball you will need.
You will also need a trailer wiring harness, I recommend the Wiring Harness, # C59496.
When choosing a cargo carrier, it is important to choose a carrier that is compatible with a Class I trailer hitch. Not all cargo carriers fit Class I trailer hitches. The Curt Cargo Carrier, # C18110, is our lightest Class I rated carrier. This carrier weighs approximately 30lbs, so you will have about 170lbs of cargo capacity to work with.
