Install of Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller and 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2012 Chevy Silverado
Question:
i have a 2012 Chev. Silverado 1500 with factory wiring for rv trailer towing, both for the 7 pin plug and the brake controller. Can I use my prodigy p-2 controller and purchase the wiring adapter 3015-p and a pk11893 replacement 7 pole rv trailer connector socket to complete my connections? Lastly, is it possible to purchase a new bracket/holder for the p-2 so I can leave my original in my other vehicle? If so, is it available from etrailer? Thanks

You can certainly use your Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885 in your 2012 Silverado. The 2012 Silverado tow package wiring doesn't need the # 3015-P plug you mentioned. The tow package wiring terminates in blunt cut wires under the dash, with no connector needed. You could wire a # 20127 pigtail connector onto the tow package wires, which would allow you to swap the controller between vehicles. You could also use a # 7686 pocket mount on both vehicles, which would once again allow you to quickly swap the controller back and forth when needed.
If your truck doesn't have the 7-way at the rear bumper, but does have the knock-out shown in the provided photo, I'd recommend using the # PK11916 which is designed to install into the bumper as shown in the video I've provided for you.
If you don't have the knock-out, you can use the # PK11893 you referenced or the # HM40975.
I've linked you to a helpful FAQ article as well as install videos for the controller and trailer connector.
