Can Reese Weight Distribution Shank 54998 be Used in Place of Reese Shank 54970
Question:
I currently use the Reese 54970 with my Reese 66021 WD Hitch. I upgraded my trailer and now need to upgrade my hitch. I need a solid shank for my new Draw-Tite 7979-1 double tab hitch head which requires a solid shank. Both the shanks are same length and shape, except the 54998 is solid. Can I swap out the 54970 with the 54998 and install the hitch head in the same position on the 54998 that it was in on the 54970? I am posting a picture of my current setup with the 54970 and 66021 hitch head.
