Installing Brake Controller in a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500

Question:

I have a 03 ram 1500 and it came with factory 4way plug. I bought a 7 way and installed that. I then purchased a trailer break control and the separate plug that plugs into the module on the floor by the emergency break and also plugs into the break control. I have power to the control but would like to know how to hook up the blue and black trailer break wires from the 7 way to the control? Since I already have power to the control could I just cut the two wires that I need from the control and wire them back to the 7 way?

You are on the right track. Since your vehicle had a factory 4-way and you installed a 7-way the brake output circuit has been partially ran on your vehicle. It stops at the connector that is located under the driver's side wheel well. In order to finalize the installation you must splice into this wire and continue it back to the plug.

I attached a picture that shows what the wire and connector you are looking for. I also attached a help article that details installing a brake controller in a Ram like yours.
