5th Wheel Hitch for a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 8-Foot Bed Towing 5th Weighing 10,500 Pounds Loaded
Question:
I have a 2015 Chevy 2500 long bed and plan to tow a fifth wheel weighing 10,500 lb. fully loaded. Which hitch will be more reliable, durable, and easy to hook up. I have heard about some problems with the 16K hitch with a plastic lube plate getting stuck closed. I also notice that on the 16k hitch it looks like the king pin could hit the lower area of the jaws if it comes in too low.

As long as the weight capacity of a fifth wheel hitch is greater than the gross vehicle weight rating of your trailer, it wouldn't matter which fifth wheel hitch you choose.
With that said, I highly recommend the B&W Patriot # BWRVK3200 because of B&W's high quality products. It features a dual-jaw design for a strong connection. The durability is top notch because it went through vigorous testing cycles in both fatigue and static testing.
We have seen a couple lube plates get stuck with Sidewinder fifth wheel hitches, but none on regular fifth wheel hitches. I contacted our representative at Reese and he hasn't had any issues either unless the lube plate was damaged.
The custom base rails are the Reese # RP56001-53 and will mount to existing holes in your truck frame.
