Recommended Platform Hitch Bike Rack with Locking Option
Question:
I am potentially in the market for a new hitch rack for my wifes car, but the lack of locking option for some hitch pins could potentially be a deal breaker. I have locking hitch pin from Sportrack brand bike rack I have rack itself did not survive being rear ended. would that work, or is there something that would prevent it from working?

Sorry to hear your vehicle was rear ended!
The platform hitch mount 4-bike rack I recommend, that has a locking option, is the Swagman XTC4 4-bike rack # S64665 because it includes an anti-rattle hitch lock to secure the rack to your receiver hitch, and a steel cable lock to secure your bikes to the rack. The weight capacity is 35 pounds per bike.
It looks like the lock that you have from your other rack wouldn't work or be necessary in this case.
Before loading up your bike rack, I would double-check your owners manual to determine the maximum tongue weight your vehicle can handle and do not exceed it.
Take a look at the video review and informative article I included.
